Inspiration

I have been surfing the blog scene and I always seem to come across 2 favorites who never fail to inspire me. Elsie Flannigan and Candice Carpenter.

If you havn't checked out their blogs do so. Candice has a timeless style that I just LOVE. I was so lucky to have her come teach at the store this past March, not so lucky however, I didnt get to take her class. But one day I will. I have boughten kits from her and she just jams all kinds of fun stuff in them. And Elsie appeals to my funkier side. LOVE her style too. So carefree and funky.
Who inspires you? There are so many talented artists out there I cant begin to name them all.

Its a busy week for me coming up. Getting ready for Phoenix CK convention. I hope to see a lot of you there.

HES BACKKK......

Yep that ugly monster insomnia is back. He just seems to love me. Even though I try to ignore him and even curse him, he continues to visit me night after night. Ughhh!!! So last night instead of snoozing in my bed I cozied up on the couch with a cup of hot tea and a book.

This is the book I read. Cute book. I really enjoyed it. Not quite as much as the twilight series of course but still good. Im going to have to get the other books by this author.

Can you guess how hot your house can get here in AZ after having no air for a mere 7 hours. I can. 96 degrees. yikes. Our air went out recently and that is what the thermostat read. And it did feel it. I had to wait here of course while the technician diagnosed the problem and then fixed it. HOT!!!! I think the air gods were mad at me because then the next day my cars air went out. About half way home from the store. HOT again. I was sweating bullets by the time I walked into the door. This Az heat is just killer. But all is fixed again and Im sitting in my cool house. Thank goodness.

CKC Phoenix is just around the corner. September 12-13th at the Phoenix convention center. I think this is the last year I will be teaching at Phoenix. I really do prefer Mesas convention center. The online registration deadline in August 24th. After that you can sign up at the convention. If you have never been you should go at least once. Its alot of fun. Heres the classes Im teaching.

This is "Theres no place like home"
Friday and Saturday at 3:10pm I believe

New online store and yummy recipe

As promsed here is my sisters famous bread recipe. You can make rolls, bread, cinnamon rolls, pizza rolls, even ham and cheese rolls. Ill give you the directions for pizza rolls. That is my families favorite.

Heres a finished shot of rolls and little loafs. MMMMMM

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
6 cups milk
10-12 cups of flour
3 packets yeast

In a seperate bowl mix half the flour (5 cups) and all the packets of yeast together. Mix it well! This part is where I would always mess up. It is really important that the yeast is mixed well in the flour.

In a sauce pan combine milk, sugar, salt, and butter and heat until butter is melted. It should be warm like bath water, NOT boiling.

Add liquid to flour mixture and mix well. Start adding the rest of the flour until its a dough consistency. Kneed about 5 or 6 times. Split into 3 groups and let rise until it doubles in size.

Once it has risen kneed dough a couple of times and roll out into a large triangle. About 9-10 inches wide and about 1/4 inch thick. Cover surface with pizza sauce, pepperonis, and cheese.
Rollup lengthwise. Cut into pieces about 1 1/2 inches thick. Place on cookie sheet. Cover and let rise an additional 45 minutes.

Heat oven to 350 and bake until tops are golden brown. Then EAT! YUMMY!!!

I hope this all makes sense. I forgot to take photos sorry.

This is the best bread you will have though. Thanks Jen for letting me share.

These are actually rolls I made not using my sisters recipe. They didnt taste as good but its just for the photo sake.

Now for the new online store. I started just devine by devine memories not too long ago as a kind of trial. It has been doing so well I decided to go further and create a real online store front. So same stuff, with a few more things eventually, go check it out. items will still be available off of both sights until September 1st. Also the autism fundraiser raffle items will be on this sight. So go check it out. tell me what you think. I will be doing a giveaway starting Thursday so check in.

Random things.....

Home wall art
Wednesday August 27th
6:30pm
$28 Class fee
call 480-813-2093 to reserve your space

Look at my funny dog Jedi. He walks on the treadmill for excersize. He loves it. He hops up all by himself and just waits for us to start it. Then he walks for about 20 minutes then hops off. I find this pretty funny. Luke and Leah walk also but Kenobi has nothing to do with it. Just a funny sight.

Back in May when I was at work one day Paul helped jenna plant some sunflowers. Well look at them now. WOW. Before they bloomed I thought they looked like giant weeds but now they actually look pretty. TALL but pretty. They are taller than me by about 6 inches.
Thats almost 6 feet.

Canvas Collage Advent Calendar
September 20th 9-11:30 am

We had to changed CIB up a bit due to some scheduling conflicts. So instead of having a whole package we changed it up so you can take one class or all 4. It seems to be working out much better for everyone. We also changed the date to September 20th. I will still be teaching the same class (picture below). The class fee is $35 and includes all supplies. You will just need some basic tools and adhesives. Its already half full so call the store soon to reserve your space.
There is a savings if you take all 4 classes so ask about that also.
Check out the other classes here

I went to the store last night to just hang out, NOT work. It was nice to hang out with some good company. I started a Fall banner to raffle off for the auction. Ill be posting it within the next couple days. I really like how it started. I might have to buy tickets for myself:)

The kids start school tomorrow. ARGHHH! Im totally ready but still freaking out about Tanner. This junior high thing makes my stomach swirl. I cant imagine what it will be like when he starts high school. Yikes! But he said something funny to me the other day. He turnrd to me after we had spent an hour walking around campas looking for his classes, "Mom I didnt know you spoke boy and girl" I started laughing and said huh? He then explained that when his friends came up I talked slower and made sure they understood everything. But when my "mom" friends came up I talked fast and I knew exactly what they were saying too. Some kinda code he thinks. I cracked up. What a cute kid. I cant believe its been 12 years since I brought him (my first born) home. Next week will be hard I think.

Im off to make some pizza rolls. My sisters fabulous recipe. She said I could post the recipe so I will do that later tonight or tomorrow with step out photos.

Have a peaceful day!

What a weekend

This past weekend was filled to the brim. We had our all night crop at the store
which I barely made it through. They seem to be getting harder and harder. Does that mean Im getting older??? But it was fun anyway. Some great gals who actually kept their energy up the whole entire 12 hours. It seemed as if as soon as the sun started rising a flow of energy came rushing back. It was great. I did however sneak away with my mom and Rebecca to see Mama Mia. Cute movie. I was totally laughing. The cast was great. Then at midnight we had to sneak away again to get our very own copies of Breaking Dawn. If you dont know what that is it is the 4th book in the twilight series. I couldnt tear myself away from it once I started reading. Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author. She totally knows how to suck you in to her novels.

Then Saturday we headed over to Wild Horse Pass for the Scrappin Sisters retreat. We did a make n take for then. What a creative bunch they had there. Amazing! I am definatley looking into attending next go around. Sweet, sweet gals who put this event on to0.

The next few weeks are also filled to the brim. When isnt I suppose. School starts next Monday so this week we will meet the teachers. Tanner got his id card, schedule, and locker assignment in the mail. So I guess its offical, hes in junior high. YIKES!!!! We requested a top locker for him because the kid is 5 foot 5. Another yikes.

We are also coming close to our autism fundraiser August 18-23rd. I will post info and auction items in the next week. So lots to do to keep busy. Maybe sometime in there I can fit in a new digital page. I got a few tips so Im hoping It will look more dimensional than the first.

My first digital page!

Here is my first actual digital page. Keep in mind I have limited resources. Only like 4 different papers. But I am pretty proud. Now I can print this out and embellish wth texture. Not much though. I am really loving photoshop. It took me long enough.

Ok back to creating with actual stuff. I have my pattern mania class tomorrow night. I think there are still a few open spots. Its only $16 for 2 layouts. Infact, I used a digital title. This one.
Yes wintertime. We all have Christmas photos from years past so I thought this would be fun. Im in the Christmas mode right now. Maybe because Im wishing it were November and cooler.

We are having our autism fundraiser the week of August 18-23rd. There will be raffles, face painting, cotton candy, make n takes, and more. I will post about it in the next week so keep your eye out for it. You wont want to miss the raffle. I will have online bidding also this year for those of you who are out of towners.

Hasta

I think Im finally ready

Ready to join the digital scrapbook world. I never thought I would say that. In fact the other day I just said I would never. Well, NEVER say never. I am hooked. I havnt done a page yet but I have been playing non stop with photos and getting all kinds of kits to actually start a scrapbook page. I will still print them out and add texture but wow. I think the BIG problem was I didnt know how to play in photoshop very well. Especially with frames and all. But it just started clicking and Im having a ball. Heres what I just did this morning. 10 minutes is all it took. Dont get me wrong, I will still always love to create with textures. I will still paint, collage, sand, layer, and all but I will also do digital.

New Frames

So I know I already posted today but I got some new frames from two peas and have been playing in photoshop. I did this. Im kinda proud since I have not played with frames before. I have a feeling everything will have some sort of frame on it now. This cutie is one of my best buds little girls and one of the little divas BFFs. Isnt she cute?

Til tomorrow.

CIB project

Its done. My project for Creativity In Bloom -Holiday
Edition

Its an advant calander on a 10x10 canvas. It was really fun to create. There are still a few extra goodies to add and LOTS of goodies for the kits so you can create your own look. I hope you can join us Saturday September 6th for this wonderful event. There are many surprises to come just for event goers so sign up today. 480-813-2093.

Is it Fall yet?

Im ready for fall. Its just too HOT still. And Im ready for fall colors. Deep oranges, purples, teals, and browns. Yeah, kinda like my new purse. Isnt it way cute. My friend Annettes hubby goes over to China and picks up tons of fun stuff. And all her friends get to benefit. So no, its not real, but for me thats ok. I change purses so often I could never justify the price for a real one.

Also, the other day I attempted to make pizza rolls like my dear sisters. She makes the best rolls. And for some odd reason, I dont know why, maybe because I cant cook, mine rarely turn out. Well they did. I was so proud. They were not as good as hers of course but my kids still were excited about them. And I just had to snap a shot for proof that something turned out.

Just an FYI, 9 more days until Stephanie Meyers new book Breaking Dawn. I can hardly wait.

Look tomorrow for project posts. I couldnt get a good picture tonight but my CIB project is done. The aprons are almost done. Im just thrilled how they are turning out. Until then.

Projects, Projects, and more to come

I joined a summer tag swap. The smaller is for the swap the larger I made for a friend who allowed me to use this great picture of her mom and aunt playing ping pong. I love this picture. The shower caps alone are awesome.

Heres a new project that I started yesterday. It just hit me and its falling in place nicely. I still have some work to do, some goodies to add, then I will be teaching it at the store Thursday August 28th.

I will have my Creativity in Bloom project DONE and up in store by Friday. Ill post it here also. Im also busy making aprons for each and every attendee of CIB. They are turning out VERY cute if I may say so.

I got the kids new teacher information in the mail. Schools creeping up on us. Im ready for it to start. My kids, NOT so much.

Today is also my moms birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM. If you see her tell her to have a good one. She really deserves it.

Well off to make dinner (Little Ceasars pizza) hehe.

More from Utah

Saturday night the adults headed out to play. We stopped at the Freedom Festival in Provo and heard Joshua Creek play. Some great music. We got Indian fry bread, YUMMY, and then headed over to meet some of my cousins and aunts and uncles at a comedy club called Comedy Sportz. Way fun! Clean comedy that you can take your kids to. Next time Im taking my boys. They would love it.

This is the comedy crew. Funny funny guys! The first guy in the red is the owner. He was also in a movie called Charlie. A real tear jerker.

And we picked the perfect night to go beacuse we saw Mr. Bolton from High School Musical. Hes the owners brother. The little girls were thrilled to see these photos.

This is my cousin Huey and his date. They called them up on stage to participate in a dating game. Huey was hillarious. He came up with some funny lines to play along. For instance when asked what his first thought of his date was ( the guy to the right who they named Rhonda) he said " la fonda" Great sport. His date was so embarrased you could tell, but she was cute.

This was a fun night. If you get a chance to go see them perform you should. Take your kids.

Im hopeing to finish my many projects Ive got going on in the next week so be sure to keep an eye out.

CIB is also filling up so hurry and reserve you space today. Click here for more info.

What a week!!!

It has been a GREAT week. Lots and Lots to share. I have been in Utah with my dear dear sister and wonderful family. We also had a family reunion on the fourth that was just soo much fun. Thanks for planning all the games Sue. My kidos had a blast. And thanks to Tom for the rockets. Some of those babies got way high in the clouds.

I guess Im getting older because it was just such a joy to see everyone. I really realized this last week what a truly fabulous family I come from. I knew before, but it was confirmed by a 1000% this trip. At one point we shared memories of my grandpa. I heard some funny stories but he also is such a loved a selfless man. I am honored to call Grandpa Bud my Grandfather.

Here are a few photos from the reunion.

Also I started the BEST EVER series of books. I know everyone has heard of them and I am a little late jumping on the bandwagon of fans, BUT Stephanie Meyers ROCKS. I started Twilight on Tuesday when we started our drive to Utah. I couldn't put it down. Not for very long anyway. Thursday, I was done and headed to Walmart to get the others. I found #2 New moon and couldn't put that one down. I read in the car every time we went somewhere. Even if it was 2 minutes away. I stayed up late with kids just to read. Well I finished #3 on the ride home today. Thank goodness my mom likes to drive ( I fall asleep after driving 45 continuous minutes ). Now I can wait for the next one to be released. And I'm totally for Edward!!! Just an FYI

Monday we went to see WALLE. It was cute but not as good as I expected. Then we headed up to Sugar House Park in SLC. That park hold lots of memories for me. I remember playing the stream, pretending to be on some jungle adventure. Yes a jungle adventure. I was 10 when we moved from SLC to Arizona ok. I still used my imagination. So it was really fun to see my kids play in the same stream, roll down the same hills. I loved it. And the trees. How I miss the trees EVERYWHERE. We drove by our old houses and schools, they look so small to me now. I used to think they were huge. Funny how things look when you are a child compare to when you are an adult.
Then on the way home we stopped at the lot where 2 old school sat. They were so cool. We took tons a pictures.

All in all we had a fabulous trip. I really wasn't ready to come home, but life continues and responsibilities are still there. So back to the real world.

Ill post more pictures tomorrow. There are so many more to share.
